Psychology

What is Psychology?

The study of mind and behavior is known as Psychology. The word psychology is from Greek roots meaning study of the psyche or soul. Psychology doesn't just deal with mental health, but with you. Your memories, dreams, personality, senses, mental health, relationships, etc.  Psychology comes in three branches: clinical psychology, social psychology, and cognitive psychology.
Clinical Psychology deals with treatment of mental illness and disabilities. Social Psychology   deals with social interactions, including their causes and effects on individuals. Cognitive Psychology deals with mental processes including creativity and memory. These parts of psychology are studied and monitor by psychologist.
When discussing different behaviors in psychology it is important to understand that no matter how people lose self-control, finding reasons why requires a psychological evaluation. The study of the mind can also require a look into all three areas of psychology to fully understand mental health issues. Psychology is the study of your mind and behavior.
